    Karen Steinbach is an Empower™ Program Manager with the Learning Disabilities Research Program at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada. Since 1991, she has supervised and coordinated multi-site research studies in Canada and the US, involving thousands of children and teens with reading disabilities. In 2015, she received an award for clinical research excellence by the Research Institute at SickKids. Since 2006, Ms. Steinbach has co-directed more than 44 partnerships with school districts and institutions across Canada as part of knowledge translation initiatives with Empower™ Reading and has personally trained and mentored over 400 teachers. She is also leading implementation of Empower™ Reading programs at Yale University as part of a study in New Haven schools. She is part of a team training and mentoring teachers in under-serviced First Nations communities in Northern Quebec. Ms. Steinbach regularly participates in presentations to parents, educators, and healthcare professionals, and has several publications in high impact research journals. In addition, Ms. Steinbach served on the Ministry of Education advisory committee for research and implementation of Empower™ Reading.
