    Dr. Elaine Gilfoyle became the Division Head of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children in October 2019.

    Dr. Gilfoyle completed her Medical Degree at the University of Western Ontario in 1999, her General Pediatrics residency at UWO in 2003, and her Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship at McGill University in 2005. She received a Masters of Medical Education from University of Dundee in 2012.

    Since 2005, Elaine has been practicing pediatric critical care medicine at Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, where she was also the Director of Research and built the program from scratch. Gr. Gilfoyle has been volunteering with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for the past number of years, including sitting on the Critical Care Medicine Exam Board and Specialty Committee. She is currently the Chair of the CCM exam board, the first pediatric intensivist ever to do so.
