    Dr. Brent Derry is a senior scientist in the Developmental and Stem Cell Biology Program and Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. He serves on the Executive Committee for the Garron Family Cancer Centre at SickKids, where he is Vice Chair of Fundamental Research. Dr. Derry chairs the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) for Angioma Alliance Canada, is a member of the SAB for Angioma Alliance USA, and serves as Viewpoints Editor for The FEBS Journal.

    Dr. Derry uses the nematode worm C. elegans and mammalian cells to understand the functions of genes frequently deregulated in paediatric diseases. His main areas of interest are cancer and the neurovascular disease cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM). His research is supported by grants from the CIHR, NSERC, and an E-RARE team grant focused on identifying drugs for treating CCM.
