    Dr. Catharine Walsh is a staff gastroenterologist in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, an Educational Researcher in the Learning Institute and a Scientist-Track Investigator in Child Health Evaluative Sciences at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. Dr. Walsh graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine in 2003 and completed her residency in Paediatrics (2006) and fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology (2009) at SickKids. In 2010, she received her Master of Education (Health Professions Education Specialization) from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Dr. Walsh then went on to complete her PhD in health professions education through the Institute of Medical Science (2014) in conjunction with a research fellowship at the Wilson Centre for Research in Education and the Hospital for Sick Children.

    Research Activities: Dr. Catharine Walsh’s program of research focuses on examining factors that influence the acquisition of complex clinical skills, behaviours and attitudes, including methods of optimizing learning within simulation-based environments. Dr. Walsh also conducts educational measurement research focused on the assessment of competence and performance of health professionals.
